Comedy

Comedy has been a thing since the beginnings of human history, from the Greek times all the way up to the modern day, this genre which is deeply linked to the human emotion of laughter. Comedy just as most genres has been portrayed in many different forms of media, such as comics, newspaper segments, TV shows, Films, and etc.

Common Genre conventions in horror are, cheerful settings with a use of bright candid colors, that portray a lot of emotion, these colors can be yellow, red, orange, green. They are typically used on the character's outfits.

Institutional conventions of this genre, marketing wise, the best and most common way of advertising comedy movies, is with romance, hence the term, "Rom-Com" which are very popular with teenage audiences. Apart from rom-coms, regular comedies are still enjoyed by all the age groups.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

The movie Minions: Rise of Gru, is a fairly new movie, it came out this year and it is marketed as a comedy. Now this movie and all of the franchise is marketed towards children, but what was amazing about this one is that many other age groups joined in, and it was one of the highest selling movies of the year. This movie falls in the Comedy Genre since it includes goofy and simplistic characters, in a lot of quantity which appear throughout all of the movie, since it is also animated it allows for easier execution of comedy and laughter.

Superbad

Superbad is one of those examples that not all comedy movies are directed at younger audiences, and also don't have to be animated. Superbad is the story of some young adolescents in high school, trying to be cool and have fun. This movie did so well because it included jokes that the generation targeted could understand, also it has great comedic timing, and profanities, which are loved by teen audiences.
